The Department of Health Education and Behavior at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The Department has established research programs in behavioral aspects of substance misuse, obesity, HIV/AIDS, health disparities, and digital health applications. Preferred research areas for the positions include obesity, physical activity, and nutrition; and HIV/AIDS and other STIs. Applications are encouraged from candidates with theoretical frameworks relevant to health behaviors such as behavioral economics, an established research record in the modification of health-related behavioral risk factors, strong quantitative or mixed methods research
skills, experience with multidisciplinary collaboration, and use of digital technologies for health promotion research and implementation/dissemination of evidence-based health behavior change programs.
We seek applications from individuals who will: (a) conduct an independent research program that complements department and college research initiatives, (b) participate in collaborative research programs as appropriate to his/her interests, (c) teach in the department's educational programs, and (d) mentor MS/PhD students. Candidates must have earned their doctorate in health education, health behavior, or an appropriately related field in public health or the social and behavioral sciences prior to faculty appointment. Applicants must show evidence of a strong scientific background and the ability or potential to secure external funding to support their research program. The ability to contribute significantly to graduate education and the mentoring of graduate students is highly desirable, and appointment as Associate Professor requires evidence of teaching effectiveness.
This 9-month, full time (1.0 FTE), position that will begin August 16, 2018 or January 1, 2019.
